H-1B limbo in India could stretch to 2027

Immigration attorney Neumann warned H-1B visa holders presently in the U.S. against travelling to India for stamping.

H-1B visa holders stranded in India are struggling to get back to their regular lives with no new H-1B visa stamping dates available before 2027.

The cascading delays started off in December 2025 when US consulates postponed visa interviews to March 2026. However, these were then rescheduled to October 2026 and now many  applicants have experienced their interview dates being further delayed into 2027.

Texas based immigration attorney Emily Neumann confirmed that new slots for H-1B Visa stamping were unavailable, she cautioned on X, "They are not in any hurry to give you a visa. They are trying to deny visas whenever they can. It is a completely different world from what we saw during the Biden administration. This administration does not want to give you visa (sic).”

Neumann also warned H-1B visa holders presently in the U.S. against travelling to India for stamping, noting that she has not observed any new visa interview slots opening for India in the last 50 days.
 



Reacting to the news, Indian American Advocacy Council (IAAC) President Rajeev Sharma said, "This is 100% targeting Indian Americans who have already been vetted and done the work of coming here legally to contribute to the US economy."

He added, "These constantly moving goal posts will ensure job losses for many Indian Americans who trusted this government."
