The launch of the Indo-UK Life Sciences Innovation Corridor was announced following a partnership between the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) and Imperial College London, aimed at strengthening cross-border collaboration in life sciences between India and the United Kingdom.
The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Hugh Brady, president of Imperial College London, and Taslimarif Saiyed, director-CEO of C-CAMP. The announcement was made at C-CAMP’s premises in Bengaluru.
The initiative is designed to facilitate increased bilateral innovation and the exchange of researchers, innovators and startups, along with knowledge-sharing between the two countries. A key component of the corridor is a planned bi-directional exchange mechanism. This would allow UK-based teams to assess deployment readiness in India, while India-based teams could explore opportunities for deployment in the UK and potentially Europe.

“By joining forces with C-CAMP and supported through our Imperial Global India initiative, we are creating a powerful bridge between the UK and India that connects world-class research with entrepreneurship and translation,” Brady said. “The Indo-UK Life Sciences Innovation Corridor will enable researchers, innovators, and startups to collaborate more effectively and accelerate new technologies to address global challenges.”
Saiyed said biosciences remain a core area of interest for both countries and described the five-year partnership as a strategic effort. “The five-year partnership is a strategic decision to provide an enduring platform to bring together the complementary strengths of both ecosystems in developing, validating, and deploying globally relevant life sciences solutions,” he said.
The corridor will also explore joint fundraising and partnership pathways to support the sustainability and scalability of the program.
The partnership builds on Imperial’s broader engagement in India through its Imperial Global India initiative, launched last year with a liaison office in Bengaluru. The initiative focuses on advancing science and technology programs with academic, industrial and innovation partners, while supporting collaboration and talent exchange between the UK and India.
Officials said the new corridor is expected to deepen ties in the life sciences sector by leveraging the research and entrepreneurial ecosystems of both countries.
