Sigri Indian BBQ is set to enter Florida with its first location in Gainesville, led by Indian American franchise partners as part of the brand’s expanding U.S. footprint.
The new outlet, expected to open in mid-2027, will be owned and operated by Ravin and Heali Mehta, a husband-and-wife team with experience in fast-casual franchising. Originally based in the Northeast, the couple relocated to Gainesville to build new dining concepts in a fast-growing and diverse market, a release noted.

"We have been in this space before, so we know how important it is to build something that truly resonates with the community," said Ravin Mehta. "Gainesville has welcomed us with open arms, and that made us want to bring something new and meaningful to the table – a concept that tastes different and is rooted in tradition. With Sigri, we see the opportunity to do exactly that."
Part of Craveworthy Brands, Sigri Indian BBQ is known for its open-flame cooking style inspired by North Indian “dhaba” traditions. The menu features items such as kebabs, kathi rolls, naan, and spiced bowls, combining traditional flavors with a fast-casual dining format.
Founded in 2015, the brand aims to make Indian barbecue more accessible to mainstream American consumers, blending heritage cooking techniques with a scalable restaurant model.
Samuel Stanovich, SVP of Franchise Leadership at Craveworthy Brands, said the partnership reflects the company’s focus on experienced operators. “They understand that building a successful restaurant goes beyond just the product. It's about showing up consistently, leading passionate teams and creating an experience guests come back for.”
Gainesville, home to the University of Florida, offers a diverse and youthful customer base, making it an attractive market for globally inspired cuisine. The expansion reflects a broader trend of Indian-origin food brands gaining traction in the U.S. fast-casual space.
