Trump Says U.S.-India Relationship Strong Despite Tariff Dispute

Trump said the tariffs previously limited U.S. exports to India while allowing Indian goods to enter the United States freely.

US President Donald Trump on Sept.2 defended the US-India relationship amid ongoing trade tensions, saying his administration has a strong partnership with New Delhi despite high tariffs imposed by India on American goods.

“No, we get along with India very well,” Trump told reporters at the White House. Defending his new tariff on India. “India was charging us tremendous tariffs — about the highest in the world,” Trump said during a press conference.
