India–Brazil deepen strategic ties with new agreements across key sectors
The two countries also agreed to promote collaboration in MSME entrepreneurship and crafts, aiming to boost small businesses and innovation.

Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in rare earth and critical minerals / Amit Deshmukh
India and Brazil have strengthened their strategic partnership with the signing of multiple agreements during the State Visit of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to India from Feb. 18–22. The list of outcomes was released by the Ministry of External Affairs, highlighting expanded cooperation across critical sectors.
Critical Minerals and Steel Supply Chain
Both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in rare earth and critical minerals. An additional agreement in the mining sector aims to strengthen the steel supply chain, reflecting a shared focus on industrial growth and resource security.

Postal Services and MSME Collaboration
An MoU was concluded to enhance cooperation in the postal sector. The two countries also agreed to promote collaboration in MSME entrepreneurship and crafts, aiming to boost small businesses and innovation.
Digital Partnership for the Future
India and Brazil adopted a Joint Declaration and Action Plan on a “Digital Partnership for the Future.” The framework is expected to expand cooperation in digital technologies, innovation, and emerging tech ecosystems.
Traditional Knowledge and Research Cooperation
India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Brazil’s INPI signed an MoU related to the Traditional Knowledge Digital Library, focusing on knowledge protection and research collaboration.
Health Regulatory Cooperation
A new MoU between India’s CDSCO and Brazil’s ANVISA was also signed, aimed at strengthening cooperation in pharmaceuticals and regulatory standards.
Education and Media Partnerships
The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) signed an agreement with the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Additionally, the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) partnered with the University of São Paulo (USP), strengthening academic and media cooperation.
The agreements signal a broader push to expand bilateral engagement in trade, technology, health, education and strategic resources, reinforcing India–Brazil ties at a time of growing global cooperation among emerging economies.
