Houston to host cultural evening marking 150 years of Vande Mataram
The program will feature classical music and cultural expressions curated by Pandit Suman Ghosh.

The Indian consulate in Houston will host a special cultural evening to commemorate 150 Years of “Vande Mataram,” the national song of India.
The program, organized in association with the Center for Indian Classical Music of Houston, VPSS Haveli, and several Indo-American cultural organizations, is scheduled for March 7, at VPSS Haveli,Houston.

The event will pay tribute to Vande Mataram through classical music and cultural expressions. The program has been curated by Pandit Suman Ghosh, founder-director of the Center for Indian Classical Music of Houston.
The Consulate General of India, Houston, in association with the Center for Indian Classical Music of Houston, VPSS Haveli, and leading Indo-American cultural organizations, invites the community to join a special cultural evening celebrating 150 Years of Vande Mataram.

The Center for Indian Classical Music of Houston has previously organized major Hindustani classical music initiatives in the United States, including a landmark concert presented from foreign soil as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, marking the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.
The organization has also hosted sessions of the Sangeet Martand Smriti Samaroh Series, during which Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma paid tribute to his guru, Pandit Jasraj.
During earlier events, India’s then Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu publicly acknowledged the organization’s work in promoting Hindustani classical music in the United States.
Organizers said the March 7 program is open to members of the Indian diaspora as well as friends of India and is intended as a cultural tribute reflecting the enduring legacy of Vande Mataram. Entry is by registration only.
