Former U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris is set to release a memoir with a behind-the-scenes account of her historic and abbreviated presidential campaign.

The book titled 107 Days, will be published by Simon & Schuster on Sept. 23. The title refers to the 107 days Harris spent on the campaign trail before ending her presidential bid, which marked the shortest campaign in modern U.S. history.

In a video announcement released July 31, Harris reflected on that experience. “One hundred and seven days traveling the country, fighting for our future – the shortest presidential campaign in modern history. Since leaving office, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on those days and with candor and reflection, I’ve written a behind-the-scenes account of that journey.”

Simon & Schuster has described the book as a “page-turning account” offering “surprising and revealing insights.” While the publisher did not disclose financial details of the deal, it noted that Harris provides “an eyewitness contribution to history.”

Jonathan Karp, CEO of Simon & Schuster, said in a statement, “Kamala Harris is a singular American leader. 107 Days captures the drama of running for president better than just about anything I’ve read. It’s one of the best works of political nonfiction Simon & Schuster has ever published.”

Though Karp did not elaborate on the book’s contents or whether Harris addresses questions about former President Joe Biden’s fitness for office, he stated that she “addresses everything we would want her to address.”

Harris, who was defeated in the presidential election by Republican candidate Donald Trump, assumed the Democratic nomination after Biden withdrew from the race in July following a widely criticized debate performance.

Had she won, Harris would have become the first woman and the first woman of color to serve as U.S. president.

She also announced on July 29 that she would not seek the governorship of California in 2026.

107 Days will be Harris’s second book. Her first, The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, was published by Penguin Books in 2019.
