अमेरिका के डेमोक्रेटिक सोशलिस्ट जोहरान ममदानी ने गुरुवार सुबह न्यूयॉर्क शहर के 112वें मेयर के तौर पर शपथ ली। ममदानी ने नवंबर 2025 में न्यूयॉर्क के पहले मुस्लिम मेयर के तौर पर जीत हासिल की। ममदानी ने तीन कुरान पर हाथ रखकर मेयर की शपथ ली थी। कुरान पर शपथ लेने को लेकर भारत में सियासी बयानबाजी भी तेज हो गई है। अब भारतीयों नेताओं को गीता पर हाथ रखकर शपथ लेने की मांग उठी है।
