A facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Yale School of Medicine, Suresh Mohan traveled to Lviv, Ukraine this spring to perform complex surgeries on soldiers injured in the ongoing war and to train local physicians in microvascular techniques.
“As a physician, it’s really hard to hear someone ask for help and say no,” said Indian-origin Mohan, who joined two U.S. colleagues for an eight-day mission in April at the Superhumans Center, a specialized facility for war trauma rehabilitation.
