VP Vance meets Tharoor-led delegation
The discussion aimed to boost counter-terrorism cooperation and reaffirm India-U.S. strategic ties.

All-party parliamentary delegation with JD Vance / X/ ShashiTharoor
The all-party parliamentary delegation led by Indian MP Shashi Tharoor met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on June 5 in Washington, D.C., to discuss India's response to terrorism and avenues for strengthening India-U.S. counter-terrorism cooperation.
“The All Party Parliamentary Delegation led by Shashi Tharoor called on Vice President JD Vance this morning. The conversation focused on strengthening the India - US partnership including cooperation in counter-terrorism domain,” the Embassy of India in the United States posted on X.

Tharoor also took to X after the meeting, describing the meeting as highly productive. “We had comprehensive discussions covering a wide array of critical issues, from counter-terrorism efforts to enhancing technological cooperation. A truly constructive & productive exchange for strengthening India-US strategic partnership, with a great meeting of minds,” he wrote.

Both sides acknowledged the growing complexity of global security threats and underscored the importance of sustained coordination to tackle cross-border terrorism. The discussion also reaffirmed the shared commitment of India and the United States to deepen their strategic partnership, with a focus on security, defense, and technological innovation as pillars of long-term cooperation.
Earlier in the day, Tharoor spoke with Ambassador Ken Juster at the Council on Foreign Relations. The delegation also held meetings with U.S. lawmakers, think tanks, and media representatives to highlight India's stance on terrorism and regional security.
Notably, the April 22 Pahalgam attack happened when Vance was on an official visit to India. In a message of support shortly after the attack, the Vice President spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed deep solidarity with the Indian people.
