Virginia-based Universal Corporation has appointed Anubhav Mittal as senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), effective Feb. 17. He will succeed Johan Kroner, who is set to retire.
Mittal brings two decades of experience across finance, corporate strategy, and business transformation in global consumer products, agriculture, and ingredients businesses. He most recently served as CFO of ADM Nutrition, an approximately US$8 billion business segment of Archer Daniels Midland Company.

In that role, he oversaw financial strategy, portfolio management, and growth initiatives across multiple geographies. His earlier positions at ADM included CFO of Global Pet Solutions and Global Head of Business Development and M&A, where he led both organic expansion and acquisitions.

Anubhav’s background in consumer products, large-scale global agriculture, and food ingredients will also support our corporate strategies with our tobacco and ingredients businesses. Mittal said he was joining the company at a time of opportunity. “I am honored to join Universal at an exciting time for the company,” he said. “Universal has a strong foundation for growth and a well-defined strategy in place to advance momentum across its business segments."

Mittal has also held senior finance and strategy roles at Kellogg Company, worked in strategy and operations at Booz & Company, and began his career at Unilever in India, along with stints in public sector roles with the Government of India.
He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur.
