In July, the victim was contacted on a messaging platform by an individual using the name Manisha Sharma. Both suspects were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone who experienced a similar incident under the pretext of a casual date to come forward and contact police.

Anyone targeted by extortion or with information about extortion is encouraged to report it to Peel Regional Police.
