This Indian grad’s app helps emergency doctors give timely feedback at Pittsburgh hospital

Before the app— called the Emergency Medicine Milestone Application (EMMA)—was introduced, attending physicians completed only 19 percent of required post-shift evaluations.

Siva Komaragiri, a graduate of the University of Mumbai, played a key role in solving a longstanding challenge at Allegheny Health Network’s Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) in Pittsburgh: streamlining evaluations for emergency medicine residents.

In the summer of 2024, Komaragiri, who just earned his master’s degree in Health Care Analytics and Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College, led the development of a mobile and web application that drastically improved feedback collection for AGH’s emergency medicine residency program.
