Tanvi the Great to feature in New York Indian Film Festival

The film received wide critical acclaim after its premiere at Cannes

The film tells the story of a young autistic woman who sets out to fulfil her late father’s dream of reaching the world’s highest battlefield / Instagram/ Shubhangi Dutt

Anupam Kher’s directorial venture, ‘Tanvi the Great’, is set to receive its North American debut at this year’s New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF).

After a grand premiere at 2025 Cannes, the film will screen on June 19 in New York City.

Tanvi The Great is a Hindi drama about a young autistic woman, Tanvi Raina, who defies societal barriers to fulfill her late father's dream of saluting the Indian flag at Siachen Glacier. Featuring a score by M.M. Keeravani and Resul Pookutty’s sound design, the film was inspired by Kher’s niece.

Kher expressed his gratitude to the festival and said on X, “Thank you @nyindianfilmfest and @IAAC for this honour. We are looking forward to showing our film (to) the amazing festival audiences of NY.”

The movie, set for public release on July 18, features Shubhangi Dutt as Tanvi, along with Anupam Kher, Iain Glen, Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Arvind Swami, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, and Nasser in other key roles.

The 2025 New York Indian Film Festival starts on June 20 and will go on till June 22.

This year marks the event’s 25th edition of the film festival. Screenings will take place at Village East by Angelika in Manhattan.
