U.S. President Donald Trump on May 21 claimed credit for diffusing tensions between India and Pakistan, asserting that his administration helped settle the latest dispute between the two South Asian neighbors through trade diplomacy.
Speaking from the Oval Office during a joint media appearance with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Trump referred to the recent ceasefire as a diplomatic win. The ceasefire came after a brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam last month that left 26 Hindu tourists dead, an incident that pushed both nuclear-armed nations to the brink of another confrontation.
