Seattle Orcas have announced significant leadership changes as part of their ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) Season 3 campaign, with the objective of reviving the team's performance following a 0-5 run.
The franchise confirmed the departure of head coach Matthew Mott, citing strategic differences in coaching and management approaches. The organization expressed gratitude for Mott’s service and professionalism, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
In a parallel development, Heinrich Klaasen has voluntarily stepped down as team captain to focus solely on his responsibilities as a batter. Klaasen will continue to play a key role within the squad and leadership group, demonstrating what the franchise described as a “team-first mindset.”

Taking over the captaincy is Sikandar Raza, a seasoned international all-rounder whose experience earned him unanimous support from the team’s leadership.
“This is a moment of reflection and renewal for the Seattle Orcas. This has been a tough run for the team, and with it, some difficult decisions had to be made. We respect Heinrich’s decision to step down voluntarily as captain to focus on his batting. Sikandar was our unanimous choice once we heard from Klassen about his decision. We believe these changes set the stage for a strong second half of the season,” said Hemant Dua, CEO of the Seattle Orcas.
These changes reflect a bold, proactive approach to turning the season around, anchored in unity, adaptability, and performance, a statement said.
