Parks are essential community spaces for Americans, offering room to relax, exercise, and connect with nature. They bring families together, support healthy lifestyles, and strengthen neighborhood bonds.
More than 200 residents came together at Rollins Ford Park in Nokesville, Virginia to celebrate the grand opening of the long-anticipated pump track, drawing families, biking enthusiasts and local leaders for a lively community event.

Residents inaugurating the event / Image courtesyPrince William County executive Christopher Shorter, Board of County supervisors chair Deshundra Jefferson, and Brentsville District Supervisor Tom Gordy along with Amarjit Singh Rayat Assistant Director Parks and Recreation joined the crowd, along with professional BMX racer and U23 National Champion Cutter Williams. Leaders and staff from the Prince William County Parks Foundation and Parks and Recreation Department, along with several major sponsors, also attended the celebration.

Ruth Anderson, chair of the PWC Parks Foundation, opened the event by recognizing the sponsors and supporters whose contributions made the project possible. Anderson emphasized that the Foundation’s mission is to support and advocate for county parks, and that this project represents a major milestone.
Brentsville District supervisor Tom Gordy highlighted the role of community effort, saying the pump track is the result of people and organizations coming together with shared purpose. County Executive Christopher Shorter echoed this sentiment, describing the grand opening as an investment in neighborhoods, outdoor spaces, and the well-being of local families.
The pump track adds to the park’s growing list of amenities. Located off Vint Hill Road, Rollins Ford Park also offers a basketball court, three dog parks, a farm-themed destination playground, two picnic pavilions, grass fields for soccer and lacrosse, walking trails, and a comfort station. Visitors can also take advantage of water fountains, a water bottle filling station, and a designated fountain for pets.
