Redlands mayor proclaims Hindu Heritage Month

Mario Saucedo urged residents to undertake activities, events, and educational initiatives that promote respect for Hindu traditions and contributions in October.

The mayor of Redlands City, Mario Saucedo, proclaimed the month of October as Hindu Heritage Month, on Oct. 7, 2025.

Redlands City in California is home to a large and growing Hindu American population and through this proclamation, the city acknowledged the culture, history, traditions, achievements and contributions of Hindu Americans.

Celebrating the contributions made by the community, the mayor noted in the proclamation, "Hindu Americans have filled our communities with rich traditions, and abundant culture and the city is proud to recognize, during Hindu Heritage Month, their many social, cultural and economic contributions to our city, state and nation."

The mayor also appealed to "residents, educational institutions, and community organizations to observe Hindu Heritage Month through activities, events, and educational initiatives that promote understanding, cultural exchange, and respect for Hindu traditions and contributions".

Expressing joy over the announcement, Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) said on X, "We thank the City of Redlands in California, Mayor Mario Saucedo, and Councilman Eddie Tejeda for the Proclamation honoring the many contributions of the Hindu community and celebrating this month in a beautiful ceremony yesterday."



Hindu culture and heritage is celebrated in many parts of the USA during the month of October. It seeks to honor the contributions and culture of approximately four million Hindu Americans in the country.
