Abhirami Harilal / Carnegie Mellon University
Abhirami Harilal, an Indian-origin physicist and alumna of Carnegie Mellon University, has contributed to research at CERN aimed at identifying new particles linked to dark matter, one of the universe’s least understood components.
Harilal, who completed her undergraduate and master’s studies in physics at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata, spent four years at CERN working with data from the Large Hadron Collider. She applied machine learning techniques to improve how physicists detect rare particle signatures, enhancing the sensitivity of ongoing experiments.
