Zee 5 Global unveils AI-driven originals based on Indian mythology

The collaboration will deliver six AI-powered original titles reimagining Indian mythology, folklore and history for viewers across seven languages.

Zee 5 Global on July 29 announced a partnership with Collective Studios' Historyverse to develop six AI-assisted original series based on Indian mythology, history and folklore for release in seven Indian languages worldwide. 

The collaboration marks one of the streaming platform’s largest investments in AI-driven storytelling, with the titles set to premiere in seven Indian languages, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali.

The slate includes Garud – Ek Yodha Ki Gatha, Narmada Manasa Sundari – Shiv Parvati Ki Putriyan, Vikram Betal Aur Nar Pishachani, Shiv Sati Ki Ek Anant Prem Kahani, Param Sundari Chandrakanta Ki Amar Prem Katha, and Bhakto Ke Bhagwan Tirupati Balaji.

According to the announcement, the projects will use artificial intelligence as a creative tool to create immersive visual experiences while drawing on India's mythology, legends, and cultural heritage.

"Indian mythology and history have always held a timeless appeal, transcending generations and geographies. With this partnership, we are reimagining these iconic narratives through AI-powered storytelling, making them more immersive and accessible for audiences around the world,” said Siju Prabhakaran, chief business officer at Zee 5 Global. 

Harish Goyal, territory head of Americas at Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., said the AI-powered slate presents Indian mythology and history "in a contemporary, visually immersive format," helping audiences reconnect with India's storytelling traditions.

Parul Goel, territory head – Europe at Zee Entertainment UK, said the collaboration seeks to deliver "immersive entertainment experiences for a new generation of viewers" while preserving the cultural essence of the stories.

Sanmesh Thakur, executive vice president and territory head of APAC at Zee Entertainment, said the initiative blends technological innovation with authentic storytelling to make Indian mythology more accessible across the region.

Krishnendu Chakraborty, territory head–MENA at Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., said the stories emphasize "heritage, faith and enduring human values" that resonate across cultures.

Zee 5 Global said the collaboration reflects its broader strategy of investing in original intellectual property while using AI to expand storytelling possibilities for global audiences.
