The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) recently hosted a delegation from the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in Washington, D.C., to discuss agricultural cooperation between India and the United States.

Led by IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative) Chairman Dileep Sanghani, the dialogue focused on strengthening cooperation in areas such as innovation-driven agricultural policies, sustainable farming practices, food security and farmer prosperity.

The event also served to renew and strengthen bilateral cooperation in agriculture between India and the United States, helping the two countries identify solutions to shared challenges while exploring new opportunities for growth in the sector.

During the discussions, attendees highlighted the need for deeper India-U.S. partnerships in addressing global agricultural challenges and advancing long-term development goals.

The meeting featured discussions on improving agricultural productivity, promoting the adoption of advanced technologies, enhancing soil health, expanding technical support for farmers and developing innovation-based agricultural solutions.

Participants also explored ways to strengthen food and nutritional security through greater collaboration.

Agricultural experts, policymakers and industry representatives from both countries participated in the discussions and agreed that expanded cooperation could create new opportunities for farmers and support sustainable growth in the agricultural sector, IFFCO said in a statement.

Talking about the event, USIBC said on X, "The discussion provided a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives on strengthening U.S.-India collaboration in agriculture, addressing shared challenges and exploring emerging opportunities across the sector."

It continued, "Participants also examined policy frameworks and innovation-driven approaches that can help advance sustainable agricultural transformation and support food security goals in both countries."

USIBC, one of the leading business advocacy organizations focused on U.S.-India relations, highlighted the engagement on its official social media platforms, describing it as an important step toward advancing agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

The dialogue is being viewed as a significant effort to deepen India-U.S. agricultural ties, promote cooperative-led agricultural development and support higher farm productivity, farmer incomes and agricultural security.
