Pennsylvania-based robotics startup 'Skild AI' opened a new office in Bengaluru, describing the move as an 'expansion from one Silicon Valley to another' as it deepens its global footprint in artificial intelligence and robotics.

With offices already running in California and Pennsylvania, the Bengaluru office is said to be a key step in the company's global expansion ambitions.

The company noted that it chose Bengaluru because the city boasts "one of the world's strongest ecosystems for AI research, infrastructure, and software engineering," while having a unique blend of startup velocity and deep academic rigor.

Additionally, the company also noted that its Bengaluru office would help it recruit world-class robotics engineers, AI scientists, and systems engineers while increasing the diversity of thinking across model architecture and deployment strategy.

Skild is developing what it calls an 'omni-bodied brain' which would allow any robot to perform any task. This requires the AI startup to build novel algorithms, such as the emergence of in-context learning in robotics, create large-scale data pipelines and also create data flywheel and feedback loops from real-world deployments.

The company believes that expansion into Bengaluru would help the company increase its capacity to experiment, stress-test, and refine core components of its product.
