Texas dancers unite for Krishna, Vande Mataram celebration
The event, to be held at Houston's Miller Outdoor Theatre on Aug. 22, 2026, will bring to life the enchanting tales of the divine flutist through Indian classical dance.

Call of the flute / India in Houston
Celebrating India's rich cultural heritage through music, dance and storytelling, the Consulate General of India, Houston, in collaboration with cultural organization Samskriti, is hosting a dance production showcasing the timeless stories of Lord Krishna while commemorating 150 years of Vande Mataram.
The production, "Incredible India: Call of the Flute," will bring together classical dancers from across Texas, including Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin, to weave together music, dance and storytelling centered on the legendary tales of Lord Krishna.

The event, to be held at Houston's Miller Outdoor Theatre on Aug. 22, 2026, will bring to life the enchanting tales of the divine flutist through Indian classical dance.
In addition to highlighting spiritual lore and classical Indian dance forms, the production also serves as a commemoration of 150 years of India's national song, Vande Mataram, composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in the 1870s.
The event is supported by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) as part of ongoing cultural exchange efforts in North America.
