Global spiritual leader and humanitarian Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been named the recipient of the ‘2025 World Leader for Peace and Security Award,’ acknowledging his lifelong mission to promote peace, dialogue, and compassion worldwide.
The award, conferred annually by the Boston Global Forum, honors individuals who strengthen peace, democracy, and ethical leadership. It will be presented on Nov. 3, 2025, at a ceremony at Harvard University’s Faculty Club, marking the award’s 10th anniversary.
As the founder of The Art of Living Foundation, he has led international initiatives centered on meditation, yoga, and community service to reduce stress and violence. His programs, active in over 180 countries, aim to build a “stress-free and violence-free society” by empowering individuals to embrace compassion and shared humanity.

“Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar embodies the very essence of this award—a spiritual and moral leader who transforms compassion into tangible action,” said Governor Michael Dukakis, co-founder and chair of the Boston Global Forum.
In response to the recognition, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar stressed the need to institutionalize peace education. “In global discussions, peace and security are always mentioned in the same breath. Yet very little attention is given to peace education. If we devote even a fraction of our focus to nurturing peace, it can pave the way for a violence-free and prosperous world,” he said.
Past honorees of the World Leader for Peace and Security Award include Shinzo Abe, Angela Merkel, Ban Ki-moon, and Emmanuel Macron, all recognized for advancing global cooperation and stability through leadership rooted in dialogue.
Established in 1981, The Art of Living Foundation has delivered humanitarian and educational programs that bridge divides across cultures and faiths.
