Rahul Patel joins Texas podiatry advisory board

The board provides recommendations to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on matters related to podiatry practice.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed Indian American attorney Rahul B. Patel to the Podiatric Medical Examiners Advisory Board. The term is set to expire on Feb. 1, 2031.

The advisory board provides advice and recommendations to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on technical matters related to the regulation of podiatry practice.

Patel, of San Antonio, is the founding and managing partner of Patel Gaines, PLLC, where he has represented more than $16 billion in commercial property interests across Texas.

His legal practice focuses on property tax litigation, commercial real estate, and corporate matters. He has represented clients including the Federal Reserve Bank and Magnolia, the business founded by Chip and Joanna Gaines.

His work includes securing a $9 million property tax savings in Treeline Park vs. BCAD, negotiating a reduction of a $750,000 claim to under $5,000 in a franchise dispute, and obtaining a full dismissal in an ADA lawsuit in Bowman v. Kisan, LLC.

He has also represented more than 200 franchisees in disputes involving liquidated damages, loan modifications, and transactions.

In addition to his legal practice, Patel is the founder of Incentra Tax Group, a firm focused on federal tax incentives for commercial real estate. He has held leadership roles as chairman of the board of Alamo Angels and as a board member of Gleantap. He has also served on the franchise advisory committee of F45 Training in North America.

Patel has received recognitions including Texas Super Lawyers, Rising Star by Super Lawyers, and San Antonio Business Journal’s 40 Under 40. His work has been featured in publications including Texas Monthly, Fortune, Forbes, Bloomberg Business, USA Today, and The Texas Tribune.

He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from The Ohio State University and a Juris Doctor from Cooley Law School.

The appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
