Houston Indian American chamber to honor Space Center CEO
The award recognizes Harris’ exceptional leadership and community impact since taking the helm of Space Center Houston in 2016, overseeing the strategic direction of the nonprofit organization that serves as the official visitor center of NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston has announced that Space Center Houston President and CEO William T. Harris will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at its 2026 Annual Gala, scheduled for Aug. 29.
The award recognizes Harris’ exceptional leadership and community impact since taking the helm of Space Center Houston in 2016, overseeing the strategic direction of the nonprofit organization that serves as the official visitor center of NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
Throughout his tenure, Harris’ commitment to accessibility and inclusion has helped strengthen Space Center Houston’s reach and impact, the IACCGH said in a statement announcing the award.
“William Harris’ leadership at Space Center Houston has left a lasting mark on our city,” said Rajiv Bhavsar, president of IACCGH. “This Lifetime Achievement Award reflects a career defined by vision and service.”
Harris was recognized as CEO of the Year by the Houston Business Journal in 2019 and appointed as a board member of the Institute of Museum and Library Services by the White House in 2023.
“His dedication to accessibility and education has expanded what Space Center Houston means to this community, and we are proud to honor his legacy,” said Jagdip Ahluwalia, founding secretary of IACCGH.
Harris expressed his gratitude for the award from the IACCGH, emphasizing the team effort throughout his career at Space Center Houston.
“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston,” he said.
“Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working alongside remarkable people who believe in the power of education, service, and bringing communities together around a shared purpose. I accept this award with gratitude for all we have accomplished together and with great optimism for what we can inspire in the next generation,” he said.
The IACCGH is a nonprofit business organization dedicated to strengthening trade, investment and business ties between the United States and India. Through networking events, business roundtables, advocacy and its signature Annual Gala, IACCGH connects entrepreneurs, corporations and community leaders across Greater Houston.
