Sim J. Singh Attariwala, the Director of the Anti-Hate Program at Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC), has been named among the inaugural cohort of 10 rising community leaders to join Aspen Digital’s Community & Tech Leaders Initiative.

The initiative will give community leaders practical training on today’s top tech issues. Attendees will gain direct access to technology leaders and policymakers, sharing their views on building an inclusive innovation ecosystem.

As a Director at AAJC, Attariwala leads national advocacy efforts to address and prevent hate-based violence and discrimination. In this role, he develops policy initiatives, strengthens community responses, advances public education and training, and enhances protections for historically targeted communities, especially Asians.

Before joining AAJC, he served as the Director of the Department of Justice's Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, coordinating with the White House and federal agencies to expand justice access, fight hate crimes, and address religious discrimination.

Attariwala holds an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, a J.D. (Juris Doctor) from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, and a B.S. in Information Systems Management from Florida International University.

The Community & Tech Leaders Initiative seeks to level the playing field for people like Attariwala, who work on behalf of communities and want to advance their tech knowledge and network.

While emerging tech holds great promise, community leaders who know firsthand what challenges their constituents face on the ground are often overlooked and ill-equipped to engage due to lack of resources and perceived lack of expertise. Aspen Digital seeks to address this unique problem through their initiative.
