Prakash Maggan to chair IHG Owners Association board

He has served on the board since 2024, chaired the technology committee, and acted as vice chair of the Americas Regional Council.

IHG Owners Association, a group representing owners and operators of IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) hotels, announced the appointment of Prakash Maggan as the chair of its global board of directors for 2026.

The Indian American hotelier is principal and chief financial officer of Rainmaker Hospitality and a lifetime member of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association. 

Maggan will lead the board as the association continues its advocacy and support for IHG hotel owners worldwide.

“Hotel owners today are navigating a rapidly evolving environment, and the Association plays an important role in helping them stay competitive and informed,” Maggan said. “I'm looking forward to working closely with our members and IHG Hotels & Resorts to advance strategic plan initiatives that support long-term performance and growth for our hotels.”

Steve Sickel, chief executive officer of the IHG Owners Association, said Maggan brings an owner-focused approach to the role. “Prakash brings a grounded, owner-focused perspective to the table. His operational understanding and strategic insight will be invaluable as we continue shaping the Association's priorities and programs,” he said.

A second-generation hotelier based in Lexington, Kentucky, Maggan earned an undergraduate degree in business management and accounting from Transylvania University in 1997. He later received a law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law and became a licensed certified public accountant.

His early career included roles in public accounting, beginning as a senior accountant at Deloitte in 2000 and advancing to manager at Brady Ware in 2004. In 2008, he launched his own accounting practice before joining Rainmaker Hospitality the same year.

He became chief financial officer in 2012 and has overseen financial operations while supporting the company’s expansion from eight to 29 hotels across two states, with a workforce exceeding 600 employees. Within the IHG Owners Association, Maggan has served on the board since 2024, chaired the technology committee, and acted as vice chair of the Americas Regional Council.

In addition to his industry roles, Maggan serves on the board of trustees at Transylvania University and has volunteered with the Kentucky Travel Industry Association and Providence Montessori.

The 2026 board also includes several Indian names, including Manish Patel: Secretary and AMER regional representative – CEO, MKP Management, Inc.; Dhaval Brahmbhatt: AMER member at large – Principal, Hotel Operations & Asset Management, Prominence Hospitality Group; Shazma Charania: AMER member at large – President, Zainul & Shazma (ZS) Holdings; and Ketan Patel: AMER member at large – Co-founder, ROHM Group.

Founded in 1955 by Holiday Inn founder Kemmons Wilson, the IHG Owners Association represents more than 5,000 owners of IHG Hotels & Resorts properties globally, focusing on operational standards, industry issues, and investment returns.
