Penn student makes global impact with micro-funding nonprofit

University of Pennsylvania student Gobhanu Sasankar Korisepati is making a significant global impact through his microfinance nonprofit, Sustaining Women in Financial Turmoil (SWIFTmfi), which has provided nearly $500,000 in microloans to over 3,200 women across 77 countries.
A second-year student in the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business, Korisepati co-founded SWIFTmfi while in high school after learning about microfinance in a middle school geography class. The organization aims to provide small business loans to low-income women who lack access to traditional funding sources.
