Penn State Smeal adds Amit Bansal to supply chain board

Indian American executive Amit Bansal has been appointed to the corporate advisory board of the Center for Supply Chain Research (CSCR) at Penn State Smeal College of Business for the 2026-27 term.

Bansal currently serves as vice president of technology silicon and server infrastructure procurement at Dell Technologies, where he oversees procurement of critical components such as CPUs, GPUs, and networking chips across business lines.

His role also includes responsibility for server infrastructure sourcing, original design manufacturer strategies, and global manufacturing operations, including supply chain localization efforts in India under the Production Linked Incentive scheme.

He was appointed alongside Scott Andrews, supply chain systems director at Wegmans Food Markets Inc.; Travis Byers, director of supply chain planning and analytics at Victoria’s Secret & Co.; and Kerry McCarthy, fellow of supply chain resilience at LMI.

“We are thrilled to welcome these accomplished supply chain leaders to our advisory board,” said Donna Palumbo, executive director of CSCR.

"Their collective expertise spans key supply chain functions, including technology procurement, analytics, resilience, and systems management." Palumbo added. "Their insights will be invaluable as we expand our initiatives and implement increased programming aligned with both Smeal's strategic direction and the evolving future of supply chain."

Palumbo said the center is focused on “developing cutting-edge resources that prepare our students and industry partners for the AI-driven transformation reshaping global supply chains.”

Bansal has been with Dell Technologies since 2001 and has held multiple global leadership roles across procurement, operations engineering, supplier quality, and manufacturing. His professional experience spans Austin, Texas; Singapore; and Taipei.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Panjab University and a master of manufacturing management from Penn State University. In 2025, he completed the executive program “Harnessing AI for Breakthrough Innovation and Strategic Impact” at Stanford Graduate School of Business.
