Nobel laureate Ramakrishnan reveals how scientists can avoid burnout

The Nobel laureate argues that sustained curiosity and time away from work are key to scientific success.

Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry laureate, has offered a clear lesson for scientists: do not work nonstop.

“If you're working non-stop all the time you will burn out,” Ramakrishnan said, stressing that science should be treated “as a marathon and not a sprint.”
