Netflix has announced that ‘Single Papa,’ its new comedy drama series starring Kunal Kemmu, will premiere on Dec. 12.

The series follows the turbulent journey of Gaurav Gehlot—a recently divorced man who decides to adopt a baby, leaving his family stunned and scrambling to make sense of his decision.

Netflix said the series captures “the madness and magic of the modern Indian family,” built around the relatable chaos sparked by Gaurav’s sudden entry into single parenthood.

Kemmu, who plays Gaurav Gehlot, said the series depicts “the messy, colorful chaos that makes a family special,” adding that portraying a new father “reminded me how much parenting is trial and error, and a whole lot of love.”

Alongside Kemmu, the show features an ensemble cast including Manoj Pahwa, Ayesha Raza and Prajakta Koli. Created and co-produced by Ishita Moitra and Neeraj Udhwani, with Shashank Khaitan as executive producer, the show is produced by Aditya Pittie and Samar Khan under the Juggernaut Productions banner.

Khaitan, who also directs the series along with Hitesh Kewalya and Udhwani, said, “I’m beyond thrilled to team up with Netflix again, but this time, going back to my roots with a light, warm, family entertainer. Single Papa is pure fun and all heart… complete with an unexpected dad, a whole lot of chaos, and an adorable baby… who will steal every heart.”

Tanya Bami, series head at Netflix India, said the show explores “the chaos, humour, and tenderness of parenting” in a way that feels “current and timeless.” She added that Kemmu is “pitch-perfect as the dad navigating life and fatherhood,” supported by the cast.

Kemmu, best known for his performances in Go Goa Gone and Lootcase, was last seen on screen in the 2024 comedy Madgaon Express, which also marked his directorial debut.
