AVIA, a Chicago-based healthcare firm, has appointed Indian-origin healthcare executive Neil Gomes as executive vice president of Insights and Advisory Services, the company announced on July 24. Gomes will oversee AVIA’s efforts to deliver market insights, advisory services, and innovation strategies aimed at helping health systems with operational and digital transformation.
Gomes brings more than a decade of leadership in healthcare digital strategy. At CommonSpirit Health, he directed digital initiatives across 140 hospitals and over 2,000 care sites, implementing models like Virtual ICU and digital emergency care that led to cost savings and improved outcomes. Prior to that, he served as EVP and chief digital officer at Jefferson Health, where he launched several award-winning tools, scaled healthcare startups, and boosted organizational revenue.
As part of his new role, Gomes will focus on advancing health systems' readiness for AI, enabling workforce shifts, and transforming care models. He is expected to drive how systems benchmark progress and operationalize technology to respond to current industry pressures.
"Throughout my career, I've worked to help healthcare organizations unlock new value by reimagining their digital future," said Gomes. "AVIA is uniquely positioned to guide health systems with the right intelligence, the right relationships, and the right roadmaps. I'm thrilled to join this mission-driven team and contribute to shaping the future of health."
AVIA CEO Clay Holderman said Gomes’ background in both strategy and implementation will be critical as the company supports health systems nationwide. "Neil brings a rare blend of visionary thinking and proven execution," he said. "His passion for building human and digital experiences matched with his deep operational expertise will help health systems across the country embrace new technologies and ways of working that will provide sustainability and better patient care for the communities they serve."
Gomes joins AVIA at a time when the company is expanding its offerings. Its recent launches—AVIA Nexus Experience Orchestration and Regulatory Readiness—aim to improve system operations using a shared-economic model. AVIA is also preparing to roll out Nexus Agentic AI, a platform designed to help develop an AI Agent Workforce by bringing together health systems, solution partners, and industry experts.
Holderman added, "With the addition of Gomes to our team, AVIA will continue to scale the impact of its data, tools, and services, helping its growing list of health systems to make smarter, faster, and bolder decisions."
