Narayana Health, one of India’s largest healthcare providers, has acquired UK-based Practice Plus Group Hospitals in a strategic move to expand its global presence and enter the United Kingdom’s private healthcare market.

The deal marks Narayana Health’s first major international acquisition and brings 12 hospitals and surgical centers under its network. Practice Plus Group specializes in orthopedics, ophthalmology, and general surgery and is the fifth-largest private hospital group in the UK, performing about 80,000 surgeries annually.

The acquisition strengthens Narayana Health’s position among the top three healthcare providers in India by revenue and broadens its reach to international patients. Through the integration, the company aims to address the growing demand for surgeries in the UK’s private healthcare sector.

Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, founder and chairman of Narayana Health, said the move is “an incredibly exciting step” for the organization.

“Like Narayana Health, Practice Plus Group recognized that the majority of patients were struggling to access healthcare, while only a minority could afford costly private healthcare,” Shetty said. “We have both been working to meet the demands of those in between and to offer a new choice of more accessible private healthcare.”

Jim Easton, chief executive of Practice Plus Group, said he was optimistic about the collaboration.
