Indian-origin medical student Muskan Dubey graduated as valedictorian of Xavier University School of Medicine’s Class of 2026 during the university’s commencement ceremony held May 15 in Aruba.
The commencement ceremony at the Holiday Inn Resort Aruba in Oranjestad brought together faculty, healthcare leaders, families and graduates from multiple countries. The event opened with the national anthems of the United States, Canada and Aruba, reflecting the university’s international student body.
Arun Dubey, chief academic officer of Xavier University, served as master of ceremonies and welcomed attendees to the event. He told graduates the ceremony represented more than academic achievement and recognized their dedication to healing, service and compassion.
“Today, we come together to celebrate more than academic success,” Arun Dubey said. “We honor dedication to healing, service, and compassion. Our graduates have completed rigorous coursework, demanding clinical training, and faced significant challenges with resilience and determination.”

The congratulatory address was delivered by Aruba’s Minister of Public Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care, and Addiction Management, Melvin G. Wyatt-Ras, who urged graduates to become innovators, advocates and leaders in global healthcare.
Xavier University chancellor J.G. Bhat addressed graduates on the future of medicine, highlighting the growing role of personalized healthcare, scientific research and intellectual curiosity in modern medical practice.

President Bhooplapur formally conferred Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Medicine degrees on the Class of 2026, concluding the ceremony with a celebratory recessional for the graduates.
