The Indian state of Mizoram has unveiled a new digital platform aimed at strengthening ties with its diaspora communities across the world.
The Mizo DiasporaHub portal, unveiled by the Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Lalduhoma, is designed to serve as a central hub for Mizos living outside the state and abroad, allowing welfare associations and individuals to register, connect, and coordinate support more effectively.

“This platform is not only a symbol of unity but also a functional tool to ensure collective welfare and timely intervention,” he said, emphasizing that the new portal would help maintain sustained engagement with the diaspora, particularly during emergencies.
The portal includes AI-enabled tools such as automatic translation, SOS alerts, directories of office-bearers and associations, and details on gathering locations. It is now live on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and as a web version.

Chairman of the Mizo Diaspora Cell, Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, said the Cell was established on June 11, 2024, to address the challenges faced by Mizos abroad, particularly those migrating through irregular routes or vulnerable to exploitation. He emphasized the need for responsible migration and closer ties with the homeland.
Fanai acknowledged the cooperation of multiple departments in supporting the Cell’s work, including the Ministry of External Affairs, Home Department, SP (CID & Crime Branch), LESDE, MYC, and Law & Judicials.
The portal is currently open for registration by welfare associations, with individual registration expected to follow soon. With its long-term vision, the platform is intended to support emergency response, cultural preservation, and diaspora-led development.
It was developed by the Mizo Diaspora Cell under the Chief Minister’s Office in partnership with LushAITech, without significant government expenditure. The CM praised the collaboration as a cost-effective model for public service innovation, underscoring the role of local tech talent in delivering solutions that serve the global Mizo community.
Estimates suggest that more than 200,000 Mizos live outside Mizoram, including in other parts of India and neighboring countries. The new platform is expected to play a key role in bridging distances, preserving identity, and coordinating support for communities in times of need.
