Sundance winner Cactus Pears (Sabar Bonda), backed and championed by filmmaker Mira Nair, will open in Los Angeles on Nov. 28 as part of its North American rollout.

Directed by Rohan Parashuram Kanawade, the Marathi-language feature follows Anand (Bhushaan Manoj), a city dweller who returns to his rural hometown in western India to observe a 10-day mourning ritual for his father.

During his stay, he forms a quiet bond with Balya (Suraaj Suman), a local farmer facing pressure to remain unmarried. The film explores their evolving relationship against the backdrop of rural social constraints.

The film has drawn sustained acclaim on the festival circuit, winning the top international prize at the Sundance Film Festival, followed by selections at New Directors/New Films and SXSW London, where it secured the Grand Jury Prize. It also screened at the San Francisco International Film Festival.

Strand Releasing has planned additional screenings in Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle as part of a wider platform release.
