Meena Sundrum, an Indian-origin graduating senior in psychology at Carnegie Mellon University, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Gretchen Goldsmith Lankford Award, the university announced this month. The prestigious award is given annually to a student in the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences who demonstrates exceptional academic performance and a strong commitment to a future in education.

Sundrum told Carnegie Mellon University that one of her most memorable experiences came during her self-directed internship at CMU’s Children’s School, when she introduced a handmade “feelings thermometer” to the Preschool 4’s class.
