Never Have I Ever fame actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan was featured on the cover of Vogue India’s November–December 2025 issue, wearing a custom creation by Indian designer Manish Malhotra.

The ensemble—a deconstructed corset paired with a tea-length crinoline crafted from archival brocade—was described by Malhotra as “a seamless dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary glamour, where heritage textiles meet modern silhouettes.”

Malhotra also shared a second look from the shoot, featuring Ramakrishnan in a monochrome cropped blazer and fishtail silk skirt, which he said represented the “quiet luxury alter ego” of his aesthetic.

Vogue’s cover story focused on Ramakrishnan’s reflections on ambition, identity, and self-awareness as she continues to navigate her global career. The magazine noted that she has learned “what ambition feels like when it’s powered by curiosity, not pressure,” in a conversation with writer Pahull Bains.

Ramakrishnan, born on Dec. 28, 2001, in Mississauga, Ontario, to Sri Lankan Tamil parents who migrated to Canada as refugees during Sri Lanka’s civil war, identifies as Tamil Canadian.

She decided to pursue acting in her final year at Meadowvale Secondary School and was cast in Netflix’s teen comedy-drama Never Have I Ever (2020–2023) less than a year later.

She later voiced roles in Pixar’s Turning Red (2022) and the animated series My Little Pony: Make Your Mark (2022–2023) and My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale (2022–2024).

Ramakrishnan deferred her theatre studies at York University to film the Netflix series, later switching her major to human rights and equity studies. She graduated from York University in autumn 2025.

The Vogue India feature followed her graduation and highlighted her efforts to balance education, acting, and identity while representing Tamil Canadians in global media.
