Madhav Menon on why some kidneys fail faster

The Indian-origin Yale researcher leads U.S. study on common gene mutation raising kidney disease risk alongside diabetes or high blood pressure.

Madhav Menon, a physician-scientist at Yale University, led a study identifying a common genetic mutation that increases the risk of kidney scarring and may accelerate chronic kidney disease, according to findings published in Nature Communications.

The research, conducted with collaborators at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the University at Buffalo, focuses on a mutation in the Shroom3 gene.
