Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-CA) and Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI) on May 8 reintroduced two pieces of legislation aimed at addressing longstanding mental health disparities in AANHPI communities. Among these is a resolution to recognize May 10 as National AANHPI Mental Health Day and the Stop Mental Health Stigma in Our Communities Act of 2025, which would increase awareness, reduce stigma, and improve access to culturally competent mental health services.

The move comes as part of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month and National Mental Health Awareness Month.
