Indian American actor Kunal Nayyar, who was recently seen in Christmas Karma, a modern retelling of A Christmas Carol, brushed off negative reviews of the movie, saying South Asian stories often face the same fate.

The film that reimagines Charles Dickens’ Scrooge as an Indian immigrant shaped by displacement and racism was dismissed by several British critics, including the Daily telegraph as “the worst thing to happen to Christmas since King Herod.”
