In a bold defense of his leadership, FBI Director Kash Patel addressed critics on July 1, asserting that the bureau's achievements during President Donald Trump's administration highlight its effectiveness in combating crime and ensuring public safety.

"I don't care what people think about me, but the RESULTS at this FBI under President Trump speak for themselves," Patel wrote in a post on X on July 1.

The post included a video juxtaposing criticism of Patel with clips highlighting what he described as the FBI's operational achievements.

The video opens with critics calling Patel "a joke," accusing him of making the country "weaker and less safe," saying he has inflicted "untold damage" on the FBI and is "the least qualified FBI director in the history of the FBI."

Responding to those attacks, Patel says, "I don't give a damn what they say about me, as long as I'm succeeding in the mission."

He goes on to cite what he described as significant declines in crime nationwide, saying, "Crime rates are dropping across the United States," and claiming the country has recorded "the single largest decrease in violent crime and murder since 1937."

Patel also pointed to the FBI's law enforcement efforts, saying the bureau is "capturing more child predators than ever before," "taking more drugs off the streets than ever before," and "capturing murderers at a significantly historic rate."

"So if I'm not doing my job, if I'm not working, then how is it that the FBI delivers the safest America under presidential leadership in the history of our country?" Patel says in the video.

The video also references the FBI's disruption of an alleged plot targeting the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House, which Patel cited as an example of the bureau's counterterrorism work. The FBI announced in June that multiple suspects had been taken into custody in connection with the alleged plot.

Patel concludes the video by rejecting personal criticism.

"All I care about is that we are capturing more child predators than ever before... We're delivering this country the lowest murder rate in recorded history. Facts that you cannot dispute. You can come at me all you want. I don't care," he says.

Patel's defense comes amid continued scrutiny of his leadership of the FBI. In recent days, some former FBI officials and security experts criticized him for publicly disclosing details of the alleged UFC Freedom 250 investigation before court records were unsealed, arguing that the announcement could have affected an ongoing investigation. Patel has defended his public communications as part of a broader commitment to transparency.

The White House has continued to back Patel. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said this week that President Trump "does still have confidence" in the FBI director and his leadership team, citing what the administration says are declining crime rates and the bureau's law enforcement results.
