An Indian couple has danced its way into controversy and a legal hot soup after a video of them dancing in front of the War Memorial in Washington, D.C., went viral. What followed was intense backlash and calls for deportation; however, desis were quick to counter the narrative using multiple past dance videos featuring white Americans, calling out the double standards.

The controversy initially began after a couple performed the popular 'Don't Rush Challenge' in front of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. The memorial is viewed by many as being almost sacred, as it honors the service members of the United States Armed Forces who lost their lives during World War II.
