India’s Ambassador to the United States Vinay Kwatra said India’s development and innovation will generate benefits for both India and the United States while addressing the inaugural session of the University of Texas at Austin India Conference 2026.
Speaking at the event, Kwatra commended the university and the organizers for bringing together scholars, students and practitioners to deliberate on India’s path to its centennial in 2047.

He said the decisions shaping India’s growth are rooted in informed academic and policy discussions, which will form the foundation of the country’s transformation in the coming decades.

The conference, held at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin under the theme “India at 100: Decades of Decisions,” examined India’s long-term policy priorities and economic trajectory as the country works toward Viksit Bharat 2047.
India’s Consul General in Houston D. C. Manjunath, speaking during a session titled “The Growth Triangle,” said India–US relations continue on an upward trajectory through Government-to-Government (G2G), Business-to-Business (B2B) and People-to-People (P2P) engagement.
He highlighted the significance of India–Texas collaboration and opportunities across technology, energy, higher education, healthcare and innovation.
The Consulate General of India, Houston said the conference offered insights into India’s evolving policy landscape, development priorities and the deepening Indo–US–Texas partnership.
The consulate said it looks forward to continued engagement with academic and research institutions across Texas to foster dialogue, promote innovation and strengthen long-term cooperation.
