Chakraborty , a multi-talented artist from Arnold, has been delivering singing, Kathak dance and musical piano and guitar performances since the age of four. She performs regularly at venues such as Wollaton Hall, Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall, and London’s Royal Festival Hall.

“It’s just amazing to win,” she said. “I didn’t expect it and it’s great because it’s a community award.”

A passionate advocate for cultural connection, Chakraborty  teaches dance at the Nottingham Hindu temple’s Hindi school and frequently performs Bollywood and Bhangra routines during community festivals. She sings in English, Punjabi, Bengali, and Hindi, and collaborates with the Nottingham Asian Arts Council to promote South Asian art forms.

“I just want to be a bridge between different communities because many of us were born here and grew up here, so we’re not really in touch with our heritage and culture – and I want to bring people into that,” Chakraborty  said.

“Lina has been interested in singing and dancing since a young age. I was amazed at her first solo performance on the stage at just five years of age. I am so proud and glad to see her win and hope that she can be an inspiration for other children,” her mom, Kanchan Chakraborty said.

Established by Nottinghamshire Police in 2021, the award honors young people across the county who inspire through creativity, leadership, and resilience.
