India signs lease to open new consulate in Los Angeles

India has signed a lease to establish a new Consulate General in downtown Los Angeles, marking a historic expansion of its diplomatic and community presence in the United States. The consulate, housed in the landmark AON Center at 707 Wilshire Boulevard, will become the second Indian mission in California and the seventh in the United States — a reflection of the state’s central role in the India–U.S. relationship.
