India issued 30 e-tourist visas under the Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign, Union Minister for tourism and culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said.

The diaspora-focused initiative aimed at boosting international tourist arrivals engages overseas Indians as ambassadors of Incredible India. Launched in 2024, it encourages diaspora members to invite at least five non-Indian friends to visit the country annually.

A dedicated portal enables participants to register, track invitations, and monitor visa outcomes. There is no upper limit on referrals.

Developed following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to the diaspora to help promote Indian tourism globally, the campaign seeks to harness the influence of the 35-million-strong Indian-origin population abroad to spotlight India’s cultural and travel offerings.

The initiative promotes both popular and lesser-known destinations, including heritage sites, festivals, and unexplored regional attractions, with the broader goal of expanding India’s share in the global tourism market.

As part of its international outreach strategy, the Ministry of Tourism is conducting promotional activities in key overseas markets through Indian missions abroad, in coordination with state governments, Union Territory administrations, and travel industry partners.

The campaign builds upon the long-standing Incredible India initiative, which has served as the foundation of India’s global tourism promotion since 2002.
