Ahead of India’s Republic Day 2026, the Government of India has launched a series of online contests and activities urging participation from citizens around the world.
The Ministry of Defence, in partnership with MyGov—the government’s citizen-engagement platform—has announced multiple competitions, including a painting competition titled “Samriddhi Ka Mantra – Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” to depict India’s journey toward self-reliance, innovation, and sustainable growth. Selected artworks will be featured in a special exhibition.

An essay competition on “Swatantrata Ka Mantra – Vande Mataram” encourages participants to reflect on the meaning of freedom and the legacy of India’s national song. Entries are accepted in Hindi and English.
A singing competition, “Vande Mataram in Various Renditions,” is already underway, having opened on Nov. 20. Participants can submit classical, folk, contemporary, or instrumental versions of the national song through the MyGov portal. Entries will be accepted through Dec. 31.
A series of online quizzes is also live as of Dec. 1. The quizzes cover themes such as the history of “Vande Mataram,” India’s achievements in space and sports, and the country’s self-reliance goals under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative. The quiz window remains open until Dec. 31.
Winners across categories will receive cash prizes, and up to 200 top performers from select contests will be invited to attend the Republic Day Parade 2026 in New Delhi, offering a chance to witness one of India’s most prominent national events.
While the activities can be accessed globally, they are open only to Indian citizens. The initiative aims to broaden participation, strengthen national engagement, and allow international audiences—including the Indian diaspora—to follow the celebration online.
Additional details and submission guidelines are available on the official MyGov Republic Day 2026 campaign page.
