India views maritime security and countering terrorism as central to its national security and economic interests, New Delhi’s top diplomat at the United Nations told the UN Security Council on May 20.
Observing that maritime security is a cornerstone of economic growth as critical trade routes, energy supplies, geopolitical interests are tied to the oceans, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Parvathaneni Harish told the UNSC that New Delhi is actively pursuing its role as a responsible maritime power to safeguard its interests and address emerging threats.
